The Community recently identified an opportunity to convert an underused building at the heart of the site to provide simple accommodation responding to the need for what we are calling a ‘hermitage’. It is hoped this will provide a place of silence and reflection for those who require it.
The outbuilding is on a single level and is fully accessible, with a wide doorway. The accommodation has full en-suite facilities along with a fridge, kettle and microwave. It is close enough to the monastery, church and other buildings to ensure it is a secure and welcoming environment, but isolated enough to provide the space and quiet to meet the needs of the user. The Hermitage is available for self-catered and contained guests, for further information please contact the guest department.
The photos below show the progress of the project from start to finish. Many thanks to our estates team for your hard work, what an amazing transformation!
