With the new year, there comes much that is fresh to us.
Church Army have held the first of their 6 annual residential weekends at Mirfield.
Dr Elli Wort, their Head of Training writes,
“We had a wonderful weekend, and all the staff were so kind and helpful.”
The Church Army also has a new permanent office on site, and their library will be housed here.
We have also been delighted to welcome some talented and experienced new staff members:
Ms Melanie Baker as Assistant Librarian, with particular responsibility for completing the electronic cataloguing of the CR Library.
Ms Jessica Pearson as a carer for elderly and sick brethren.
Mr Christopher Hinchliffe as a member of the grounds staff.
Ms Adele Hudson, CR’s new Operations Manager.
and Ms Amie Walton, CR’s new Finance Manager.
The current financial environment is challenging for everyone.
And so the brethren are particularly thankful to have the help of Adele, Amie and colleagues now to meet these challenges.
Also, plans for renovation works to the Main House and Retreat House continue to be formed.
Our architects will be ready to submit for planning approval in the next month or so.
So Adele and Amie have had to hit the ground running, preparing the Business Plan and looking again at fundraising in anticipation of these renovations, expected to begin early next year.
CR is committed to God’s mission in this place, especially in education and prayer, and the brethren’s hope is that the present proposed changes will help consolidate this for the years to come.
This will be a hard-working year to get all in place needed for this to happen.
We shall be able to give more details in future newsletters.
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement in all we do.
