Festival Day this year is also the Feast of Dedication. On 6th July 1938 our Community Church was dedicated by the late Archbishop of York, The Most Revd William Temple.
We hope you can join us on this special day, Fr Nicolas CR will be preaching at Mass, and we will have talks and exhibitions on prayer throughout the day.
The theme for this day will be:
“Lord, Teach us to Pray”. (Luke 11:1)
Coat of Hopes: A patchwork coat full of emotion will be on display on Festival Day!
The Coat of Hopes is an extraordinary community-created patchwork coat made up of over 600 blanket patches. The project is led by artist Barbara Keal, and the coat is currently on display at Bradford Cathedral (until 29 June). The Community are delighted to announce that the coat will be on display at this year’s Festival Day celebration.
The Coat of Hopes is a precious patchwork garment on a long term pilgrimage through the UK, made by, worn and walked by more than 2000 people, for a distance of over 1000 miles, carrying their hopes in the face of climate and ecological breakdown. The Coat will be staying with the Community (en route from York to Norwich) during Festival Day and will be on display for anyone who wishes to look at it, wear it, and hear its song.
